Tourist activities in Galapagos Islands are being normal despite the flood occured last Monday, January 4th in Santa Cruz due to heavy rains, as reported by the Ministry of Tourism Office in Galapagos.
The Province State Office (CGG) informed that Santa Cruz´s main road that connects Puerto Ayora to Itabaca Canal is available, allowing normal mobility of about 800 people everyday, including tourists arriving and leaving the island.
On Tuesday, January 5th, the Emergency Operations Committee of Santa Cruz held a meeting to evaluate the damage caused by the flood and proceed with the repair works immediately.
At this time, Government and local Offices of Galapagos are working in areas where the flood occurred: Toledo, Aguacatal, el Bosque and Barrio Central, located in El Occidente zone ( Baltra – Puerto Ayora road).
In a newsletter released last Monday afternoon, the Ecuadorian Secretariat of Risk Management, informed that monitoring and first response works will continue, in order to keep public informed.
